Day 5: March 15, 2024

“We created new friendships, got to know one another more, and got to bond with some of the locals/volunteers we worked on our service projects with. I am so happy I met these girls on the trip, and I hope that after this trip we can stay in touch and continue to be friends. “

Dear All,

For our last day in New Orleans, we began our morning on a bayou nature walk at Jean Lafayette National Park. We saw many varieties of wildlife including anoles, lizards, butterflies and ALLIGATORS!!!. We then headed to the city and went to noon mass at the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. Afterwards, we split into two groups and went souvenir shopping in the French Quarter. We went to a variety of stores, restaurants, and my group stopped at the famous Cafe du Monde shop where we got coffee, shirts, and keychains.

In our last reflection we talked about the ways this trip impacted us. We feel we now have more of a drive for helping communities, and this experience has prepared us for our future living situations, rooming, living in dorms, and being able to live with a group of people. We created new friendships, got to know one another more, and got to bond with some of the locals/volunteers we worked on our service projects with. I am so happy I met these girls on the trip, and I hope that after this trip we can stay in touch and continue to be friends. Now, waiting to board our plane, we reflect on all the fun times we had, and hopefully we will get to have them again. Bye bye New Orleans, till next time!!

All the best, Leah
